The Friends of the White River is a non-profit organization in Indianapolis that works to preserve and protect the White River. Since 1985, the Friends stay committed to representing those who embrace the river for recreation, who reside near its banks, and who utilize the river as a natural resource.
What differentiates the Friends from other environmental organizations is their view of the White River as a natural oasis with the potential to bring diverse communities, creatives, and families together. This insight influenced the creation of the River Scene app, which would attract Indianapolis residents to cultural, and community service events along the White River. These events could range from music listening, or to river cleanups. Having this portable platform easily connects talents, other organizations, and communities to the Friends for heightened collaboration on amazing events.
